WPR’s “Central Time” Profiles the Wisconsin Latinx History Collective

On Friday, February 5th, CLS Emerita Andrea-Teresa (“Tess”) Arenas joined WPR’s Rob Ferrett on the afternoon talk show “Central Time” to describe the ongoing efforts of the UW-Madison Latinx History Collective. The two discussed the progress of the initiative and the efforts of university- and community-based researchers all over the state and the Wicsonsin Historical Society to document the history of people of Latin American descent in the Badger State. The interview took note of the work of CLS affiliate faculty member Diego Román who is working with undergraduate researchers this semester to document the experiences of indigenous Ecuadoran dairy farmers in Wayauwega and Waupaca. This example illustrates the project’s commitment to engaging with the diversity of Latinx communities in the state. The CLS Program is the major partner for the Latinx History collective on the UW-Madison campus.
